John Voutiritsas is our team’s go-to attorney and has been practicing real estate law for almost 20 years. Today he joins us to talk about how homebuyers sabotage themselves during the purchase process and what they can do to end that tendency.

For example, we’ve seen buyers who will request inspections for multiple properties they’re looking at, which will end up costing them thousands of dollars more than they ever needed to spend.

Another way buyers sabotage themselves is by making too many requests. Some will press the seller for a credit (or multiple credits) when the seller has made themselves clear that they aren’t going to give one. Being too pushy can kill a deal. To avoid making these mistakes, know your limits, focus only on major issues, and keep your emotions in check.
